Peruvian musician Kike Pinto visits us in Switzerland, he will offer us the sounds and authentic ancestral music of the Andes and the Amazon with his voice and his songs.

He have created and directed several musical groups and have published many albums: Taklla, Inkariy, Tinku, Wifala, Haylli, El Misterio.

A testimony of his 50 years of study and practice of the traditions of the Cosmovision from the indigenous communities and peoples, an experience of connection with the ancient musical languages through which they tune into the power of beauty and harmony of Pachamama. We will share Ceremonial Cacao from Peru, an ancestral ritual plant that opens the hearts and allows us to enter into this magical sound journey.

“ I began to travel around my country and, along the way, coming into contact with the indigenous cultures of departments such as Puno, Cusco, Ayacucho, Junín, Cajamarca, Lima, etc., I found not only music but a people that through music, always present in their rituals, they communicated with the cosmos, the lagoons, the rivers, the mountains, Mother Earth, the animals, the plants and the human communities, which were considered a big family.

These experiences had a great impact on my life and thus I began to lean towards indigenous music and felt called to immerse myself in their Worldview. On that path of immersion I was invited to assimilate into Andean and Amazonian indigenous communities where I met great teachers.

In Ayacucho I learned to compose and sing, as well as to play the guitar in its particular musical style. I had the honor of meeting and learning from the guitarist Raúl García Zárate, as well as the indigenous violinist Don Máximo Damián Huamaní.
Years later, in the Community of San Pedro de Casta, in the department of Lima, I participated in many of its festivities, including the “Fiesta del Agua” (Water Festival) in which the Walinas (sacred ceremonial songs dedicated to Water) are present. I learned to compose and sing their songs and to play their musical instruments in their festivals, rituals and ceremonies.

In the Community of Japu, of the Q'ero Nation, department of Cusco, I was invited to be initiated into their Cosmovision and thus learned about their loving relationship with the “Apus” (Sacred Mountains) and “Pachamama” (Mother Earth) as well as their songs and musical instruments and their Traditional Medicine.

On several occasions, I also made contact with representatives and teachers of native Amazonian peoples and other indigenous cultures, not only from Peru but also from other countries, who also invited me to compose and sing in their traditional musical languages and learn from their medicine and their close relationship with its Sacred Plants.”

“ I have also composed many songs in various styles and languages. I have created and directed several musical groups and have published some Lis, cassettes and CDs with my productions (Taklla, Inkariy, Tinku, Wifala, Haylli, El Misterio, etc.)

Likewise, I built up a huge collection of musical instruments, the largest in my country, and with it, I managed to open a museum, the Taki Institute of Culture and Museum, open for many years in the city of Cusco. I was also able to present my interpretations, compositions and part of my collection on tours across other countries such as Germany, Japan, Canada, Turkey, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico and others. ” Kike Pinto
